What can we do today with a corn grain? And with a sunflower? Actually a lot more than what you can imagine or you could expect. Vegetal starch contained in agricultural sources can be used to obtain biopolymers with mechanical and aesthetical characteristics similar to oil based plastics. This is great but not all! These biopolymers can be structured in order to be biodegradable and compostable so that it is possible to dispose them into composting facilities together with

organic waste. The most representative biopolymers are Mater-Bi® and Ingeo™ P.L.A., two materials that we use to manufacture our disposable foodservice ware. To think to a product starting from its end of life from a point of view of a closed loop from nature to nature. This is what we have done when we developed the Ecozema range. Products that, once used, they are no more designated to become waste for landfills or incinerators but they turn into new sources. Through the composting cycle the Ecozema products will turn to a new life becoming compost, a natural fertilizer for the fields where new plants will grow providing new

sources. A valuable cycle, from nature to nature, that involves less use of non renewable sources, less energy and less CO2. The materials that allow us to obtain such results are mainly biodegradable and compostable biopolymers containing vegetal renewable sources. Some products are instead made by natural fi bers coming from fast growing plants, especially sugarcane. To grant the compostability of our products we applied for the certifications OK-Compost and DIN-Certco, issued according to EN13432 (for European countries), and BPI issued according to ASTM 6400 (for US and Canada). Ecozema plates, cutlery and cups are a perfect substitute for plastic. They are able to offer the same performances but with an extremely lower environmental impact. Ecozema for biodegradable and compostable foodservice ware, ReZema for sustainable products made from recycled plastic, Zema for plastic and wood household and Garden Zema for decorative garden items. Ecozema specifically includes fork, knife, spoon, coffee spoon, coffee stirrer, chip fork, plates, bowls, two partition plates, three partition plates, trays, clamshell boxes, pizza plates, cups, hot drink cups, straws, t-shirt shopper, rubbish bag. All the Ecozema products are made from biodegradable and compostable raw materials like Mater-Bi (by Novamont), Ingeo PLA (by NatureWorks) or bagasse pulp coming from fast growing plants, especially sugarcane. Thanks to these materials the Ecozema products are fully biodegradable and compostable, this means that it is possible to collect them together with organic waste and dispose them in industrial composting facilities. OK-Compost, Din-Certco and BPI certificates testify that our products are aligned to the international normative such as EN13432 and ASTM 6400. If you are looking for sustainable products you should also take a look at our Rezema range that includes cloth peg, drying rack, hangers and baskets made in Italy from recycled plastic coming from separated waste collection. The Rezema products are emission free since we offset our CO2 emission cooperating with AzzeroCO2. We pack the Rezema products using only biodegradable and compostable matrials such as Mater-Bi or cardboard. We always develop new items according to eco-design concept. Moreover the 3% of the sale is collected for charity organizations involved in no-profit projects both for social and environmental issues.
